Hollywood’s brightest and youngest stars gathered at the Gibson Amphitheatre yesterday for The 2011 Teen Choice Awards. There was hysteria as the cast of The Twilight Saga, Harry Potter and of course the one and only Justin Bieber showed up on the red carpet to collect their awards.
The award ceremony was hosted by The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco and awards in the shape of surfboards were handed out in the genres of movies, television, music, summer, fashion and miscellaneous.
Hollywood’s cutest couple Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber snapped up awards for ‘Choice Male and Female Hottie’. Gomez won a total of five surfboards which also included the ‘Choice TV Actress (Comedy)’ award for her role in Wizards of Waverly Place, ‘Choice Single’ for ‘Who Says’, ‘Choice Love Song’ for ‘Love You Like a Love Song’, and lastly the ‘Choice Music Group’ award alongside her band Selena Gomez and the Scene. Whilst her boyfriend Bieber picked up only four which included, ‘Choice Male Artist’, ‘Choice Male Hottie’, ‘Choice TV Villain’ for his role in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and ‘Choice Twit’ for his Twitter account.
Check out Beiber having a little dance and sing-a-long to his girlfriend’s performance:
Fans were happy to see Sean Kingston, who was recently involved in a jet-ski accident, back on stage and presenting Beiber with one of his awards.
Harry Potter triumphed over competing franchise Twilight by picking up the award for Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie, whilst Emma Watson won over Kristen Stewart for Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy actress. Watson and co-star Daniel Radcliffe also took home the award for Choice Liplock.
The Vampire Diaries was one of the most awarded TV shows. It was named Choice Fantasy/Sci-Fi Series, and four of its stars took home awards: Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder (Choice Actors in a Fantasy/Sci-Fi Series) and Michael Trevino and Kat Graham (Choice TV Scene Stealers).
And don’t worry Gleeks, Glee also won a respectable number of awards, which included ‘Choice TV Show (Comedy)’, and its stars Cory Monteith and Darren Criss were also recognised with awards for Choice Comedy Actor and Choice Breakout Star, respectively.
What do you think of this year’s winners? Who else would you like to see win an award?
