From the producers of 300 comes Immortals – an epic based on the Greek myth of Theseus, the founder King of Athens.
John Hurt is on voice-over duties giving a little bit of costume drama credibility but this looks set to be an all-action adventure. The stylised computer generated visuals were highly effective in Zack Snyder’s 300 but don’t appear to be so slick in this trailer. Perhaps it’s too early to judge but the backgrounds seem somewhat detached from the actors. Still it can’t be any worse than 2010′s Clash of the Titans.
Audiences will get a chance to check out Henry Cavill and his toned abs in the lead role of Theseus before he is catapulted into super stardom as Superman in 2013. Also starring are Mickey Rourke as King Hyperion and Freida Pinto as Phaedra.
Immortals is directed by music video and commercial veteran Tarsem Singh and is set to be released on the marketing department’s dream date of 11-11-11.
