For your afternoon pleasure here are five things that make me happy inside to be a tiny cog in the great difference engine powering the odd little world of video games and mixed metaphors.
Exhibit A – Lego Gears of War
There is no franchise quite so overinflated either in tone or physique as the Gears of War posse. Transposing the ultimo-manly Dom and Marcus – who now that I’ve typed that sound delightfully chummy, like oarsmen on the Oxford rowing team- onto legomen is a pretty perfect antidote. Thanks to Botchweed
Exhibit B – Deus Ex: Safety Dance
I’ve also found that tapping RT while playing Mortal Kombat makes Johnny Cage bust some pretty tasty moves. See also: Ezio Auditore walks the dinosaur. There are few purer joys. Thanks to GayGamer
Exhibit 3 – Portal 2 Cuddly Turret
Exhibit After That One – Skyrim
So this one is less serious but no less BUSINESS. There are so many blogs kicking about who have been given a few hours’ worth on the alpha testing version of the game I don’t even know where to start. It gives me no end of solace to know that there are so many others keen to lose themselves in what is essentially a fairytale getaway for grown-ups of a swords and spells disposition. There are dragons, you guys.
DRAGONS
Xzibit
Ignore the title, this guy is making his dream a reality. What have you done today for video games?
No that was a serious question. Tell us in the comments.
