Don’t You Wish You Could be in The A Team?!

When I was a kid one of my favourite things to watch on TV was The A Team and not just because of Mr T as the unforgettable B. A. Baracus! But because everything about The A Team was just cool and the thing I really loved the most was the amazing stuff they would build out of everyday items, I wish I could make some of the contraptions they thought up, I still remember the episode where Murdock made a hot air balloon chair to escape from prison using only bin bags, hairdryers and a hairdresser’s chair.

All this reminiscing about The A Team got me thinking, how cool would it be to start your own A Team? It wouldn’t be that difficult really, once you’ve got your Team Members picked out and your super cool van you are well on your way to being the next team of crime fighter renegades! But of course there a few elements that you simply must have if you intend to be as awesome as the original A Team.

A Van

As I’ve already mentioned, to be the next A team you HAVE to have a van, it is simply just not cool to be speeding around solving crimes in your beat up old Micra or on the back of a Vespa.

So if you have to, you might just have to consider van hire from Europcar for your crime fighting escapades. The only problem with this option is that you can’t properly deck it out with all the necessary crime fighting gear you might need, but at least you can get it in the back of your van better than on the back of your Vespa.

The Team

Now putting together the next A Team is more than just gathering the only friends you have that don’t have anything better to do with their time, you need to make sure you pick the RIGHT people for your team.

If you are going to be leading this team you need to take on the Hannibal role, are you a master of disguise? Do you love it when a plan comes together? Yes. Then you are the perfect Hannibal.

So you are Hannibal now you need to pick a pretty second in command to take on the role of Face, they need to be popular with the opposite sex and be able to con their way out of any situation. Next you will need a larger than life character who only drinks milk, is scared of flying, can fix just about anything, has a short temper and most importantly they must “pity the fool”.

Now that you have your B.A. Baracus you’re going to need a Murdock to drive him/her nuts! They must be able to fly a helicopter while also being mentally insane. Oh and they should probably have an invisible pet of some description too.

Catchphrases

Now that you have assembled your team you are going to need some snappy catch phrases, the afore mentioned, “I love it when a plan comes together!” and “I pity the fool!” were only two of the catchphrases to be heard from our favourite crime fighters.

Others included “I ain’t gettin’ on no plane!”, “He’s on the jazz” and “shut up fool”. It won’t do to just borrow catchphrases from the original A Team so I suggest you start thinking of some new ones like “I adore it when a plot reaches a satisfying conclusion!”…..hmmm maybe not.

Terrible Aim

The most important thing about being in the A Team is that you must learn to be able to win, even though you have terrible aim. No actual people can be hurt while you are solving crimes; you can shoot at them all you like as long as you miss!

Don’t worry though you can blow up and crash into as many buildings as you like though and you are also allowed to break into and out of any prisons or mental facilities you need too. Generally speaking destruction can be caused to any buildings, vehicles and other inanimate objects but no harm may come to any of the bad guys you are fighting.

The Ability to Jerry-Rig

The A Team were famous for being able to build any weapon or device they needed to save the day out of everyday objects, like the previously mentioned hot air balloon chair.

It is important for your team to have this ability too or, despite your catchphrases; even MacGyver will be cooler than you! That is the last thing you want! I would suggest making sure your van is stocked with cable ties, and duct tape; there is nothing in the world that cannot be secured with cable ties and duct tape.

So there you have it, that’s all you need to be the next A Team, simple really! Now all you need is to write a catchy theme tune!
